Supporting People
At Lightsky we support people by delivering a person-centred approach to care, tailoring our strategies to each individual based on their unique needs, preferences, and history.
Residential Services
Our philosophy is to enable people to live in the community, and for them to benefit living as a valued member of that community. Our provision comprises of residential homes with a range of facilities, including utilising a model focusing on the therapeutic use of a fully working farm to provide our resource activity provision, education, skills-training and work opportunities for individuals.

We take a person-centred approach to care, tailoring our strategies to each individual based on their unique needs, preferences, and history.
1. Individualised Support Plans
Each individual receives a comprehensive assessment that takes into account their medical, psychological, and behavioural needs. From there, we create a personalised care plan that targets their specific challenges, emphasising positive behavioural interventions, emotional regulation, and self-awareness.
2. Positive Environment
Our facility is designed to be a calming, secure space that minimises stressors and encourages positive engagement. In our rural location, the people we support benefit from the tranquillity of nature, which has been shown to reduce anxiety and provide a sense of safety
3. Specialised Staff Training
Our staff undergo rigorous training in managing challenging behaviours. This includes techniques such as de-escalation strategies, crisis intervention, and behaviour modification approaches. Our team is skilled in understanding the triggers of challenging behaviours and responding with empathy, respect, and professionalism.
4. Collaborative Approach
We work closely with psychologists, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care. This allows us to address not only the behavioural symptoms but also the underlying causes, for these individuals.
5. Positive Reinforcement
We focus on reinforcing positive behaviours. By acknowledging achievements and encouraging engagement in constructive activities, we help build confidence and self-esteem, reducing the frequency of challenging behaviours over time.
